• Hello!

My name is Brian Gruben. This is my third year here at Decatur High School and my sixth year teaching. My first three years, I taught band at Idalou ISD (just north east of Lubbock in the panhandle). I'm INCREDIBLY excited to be a Decatur Eagle this year!

I went to Frenship High School in Wolfforth, TX (also just outside Lubbock). While there, I got the incredible experience of going to the State Marching Contest in 2009. After graduating in 2011, I studied music education at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX (GO BUFFS!). While there, I was part of the tuba and composition studios, and I played in the marching band, concert band, and other various ensembles. I graduated in December of 2016 with my BM in music education and composition. I began teaching in 2017 at Idalou ISD, where I assisted with the high school marching and concert bands, and taught beginner flute, low brass, and percussion, and also taught the 5th grade general music class. I conducted the 7th and 8th grade bands, the latter achieving sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest.

My wife and I have been married for four years. We currently don't have any children, but we do have four cats and two dogs.
