• Who is Mr. Zamenski?

    A little bit about me:

Ok, so you don't speak French fluently.  I get it.  Well, let me share a little bit of my background with you.  I have been a French teacher for 18 years in high school, with an additional four years of teaching French at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  I have lived in Switzerland, France, Quebec and Ontario Canada, Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, and in several states throughout the USA.  The most prominent of these states include Massachusetts, where I grew up and went to elementary and high school; Utah, where I got two degrees from BYU (BA in French and Business - 1990 / MBA - 1995); Arizona, where I moved after my Master's degree to work with the Intel Corporation, and now I'm in Texas renting for the moment, as my family is still in Arizona.  I also taught for two years at the University of Phoenix in their MBA program, teaching in Operations, Marketing and Finance.

I am currently teaching French and Economics at Decatur High School, as the program is just getting off the ground, and as the French program grows, then I will take on more French students and fewer Economics students.  Teaching at smaller schools is something I enjoy, and it is where I began teaching, and typically taught in multiple departments as the LOTE programs grew.  The last 10 years I have been teaching only French, as I was at large schools with all of my classes being French classes.

I enjoy spots, and have coached throughout my career.  I hope to be coaching as well with DHS, but will ease into that transition as the opportunity arises.  My coaching experience includes Football, Soccer, Golf and Tennis at the high-school varsity level.  I look forward to meeting my student's parents, and have already enjoyed meeting my many students in the first couple of weeks.  I am happy to be at Decatur High School and look forward to a great year with all of my students!
