I have my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from University of Maryland Baltimore County, my master's in Educational Leadership from UNT, and doctorate in Educational Leadership from DBU. I am also an adjunct professor at DBU where I teach a master's course in curriculum design. I love scuba diving, swimming, and decorating.

After graduating from West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M), I began my 32-year education career teaching 1st grade.  After teaching 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, I moved into school administration, serving as an elementary assistant principal, middle school assistant principal, high school assistant principal, elementary principal, and interim high school principal.

My life outside of work is consumed with family.  My amazing husband, Floyd, and I have some great children –Justin (and his wife Lauren), Blair, JaciKay, and Emma.  Emma is the only one left at home, and she is a senior at DHS.  We have 7 fantastic grandchildren – Zoe, Riot, Bear, Wren, Ruthie, Annie, and Calvin.  We love spending time with any and all of them!   If we’re not with our family, you can usually find us relaxing around our house or riding our Can-Am Spyder.

I have my B.S. in Education from Oklahoma Panhandle State University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Concordia University, Austin. Seventeen years ago, I began my teaching career as a 2nd grade teacher in the panhandle of Oklahoma and two years later my husband, Jesse and I moved to Texas. Together we have three daughters, Ava who is 7, Iyla is 5, and Cora who is 4 years old.  In my free time I love to read and travel with my family.

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics with a minor in music from Eastern New Mexico University and from the University of North Texas, a Master's of Library Science degree.  I have worked in education for over 20 years and have worked for a municipality, helping them open their first public library.  Previous jobs include being a math teacher, district librarian/technology director, and public library administrator/technical services librarian.
I love spending time with family, watching comedies, musicals, visiting used book stores, and a good cup of coffee.

Since graduating with a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and master's degree from Southwest Texas State, I am now in my 27th year of education.  I have served as a bilingual elementary teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, and a district program coordinator prior to my tenure as Decatur ISD's Director of Dual Language and ESL.  My husband Chance and I stay busy with our two active boys, Graceton (7th grade) and Faithen (4th grade).  I love to watch them play football, read, see movies, and travel - especially to the beach!

Sheila McCollum

I have a B.S in Education and a Master of Education from the University of North Texas. I began my career in education 31 years ago teaching 6th grade. I have also taught 7th grade math, 8th grade math, and Algebra 1. I have administrative experience at all levels; I have been an elementary principal, middle school assistant principal, high school assistant principal, and interim high school principal.  

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my husband, Billy. We’re always up for an adventure, whether it’s deep sea fishing, rappelling down waterfalls in the jungle, or just exploring a city. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, watching college athletics, reading, and spending time with friends and family. My husband and I have two wonderful daughters, Sydney and Shelby, an amazing son-in-law, Justin (Sydney’s husband), and a beautiful granddaughter, Teagan, who clearly is the family boss.

I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. This is my 15th year of teaching, and my fifth as the GT Coordinator for DISD. Being in the GT program myself as a child, I have a heart for the unique needs of GT students and a passion for helping them reach their full potential. My husband, Curtis, and I have two children, Cody (11) and Danalee (9). We stay busy, mostly spending our time managing and showing our herd of Texas Longhorn cattle. I love to travel, especially if it involves an outdoor adventure!
