Superintendent

  • It's a great day to be an Eagle

DISD is home to more than 3,450 students and is composed of three elementary schools (grades K-5), one STEM elementary school (opening fall 2021), one middle school (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12).

The Decatur Independent School District’s Board of Trustees and Superintendent cooperatively engage in annual goal-setting based on what we as a district want to accomplish in the next school year. The following represent DISD’s goals:

    • A commitment to equipping every young learner with the ability to read at or above grade level by 3rd grade
    • A commitment to equipping every young learner with the ability to read at or above grade level by 3rd grade
    • Continued fiscal responsibility and resource management
    • Engagement with every stakeholder in establishing Decatur ISD as a destination district for staff, students, and families

We want your children to be successful in whatever they choose to do. The world continues to change in how we communicate, think, and interact. This changes the way we teach and the way students learn. The ability to work with others, use technology, and solve problems are important skills needed to learn digitally, think creatively, and compete globally.  The challenges of the past year have tested the mettle of our students and staff, and they have been up to the challenge.

Ultimately, our goal at Decatur ISD is to build and strengthen a collaborative atmosphere dedicated to working in the best interest of our students. It takes more than our teachers, staff, and administrators to accomplish this - we need the Decatur community and local businesses to work with us as we build our reputation as a destination district. Thank you for being in partnership with DISD!
