• Welcome to the 20-21 School Year

    Dear Decatur Eagle Family,

Thank you for accessing our website and taking an interest in Decatur ISD.  Please allow me to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year.  At a time when challenges have been so great, and when the needs of students are increasingly varied, Decatur’s schools continue to focus on what is possible and what can be.  Our growth mindset has allowed us to view challenges and constraints as opportunities, and our students, staff and community continues to make the impossible a reality as we navigate a time in our society unlike any other.

This school year, students will be able to access their learning in a variety of ways, individualizing to the needs of our families and taking special care of those who may have concerns specific to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our students and staff will be in buildings that are clean, safe, and full of the life and energy that only a public school can create.  During tough times, Winston Churchill stated, “This is no time for ease and comfort.  It is time to dare and endure.”  Our team has accepted the challenge to dare and endure, moving beyond their comfort zones to make 2020-21 an incredibly positive experience for students, and committing to making Decatur ISD the destination district in the area.

As exciting as our present is, the future is even brighter.  Plans are underway to open our 4th elementary school in August 2021.  The new elementary will have a STEM focus and will be open to students throughout Decatur ISD and beyond.  In addition to facilities planning, several community committees will work to improve every aspect of the community, including diversity, community partnerships, staff voice, and a group dedicated to hearing directly from our students.

In Decatur ISD, our motto is “Strong Roots, Powerful Wings”, and everything we do is about helping our community soar.  Thank you again for visiting our website, and best wishes for the coming school year.
