DECATUR, TX — The Texas Education Agency has officially approved Decatur ISD's application for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), a state-funded incentive program designed to help public school districts attract, reward, and retain top-tier classroom talent.

This milestone paves the way for outstanding DISD teachers and instructional paraprofessionals to receive substantial salary augmentations, marking a new era of investment in the district’s classrooms.

"Our teachers and paraprofessionals pour their hearts into our students every single day, and they deserve a system that recognizes their dedication," said DISD Superintendent Taylor Williams. "We’re excited to take this next step in supporting and celebrating classroom excellence. It’s a monumental win that helps amplify our commitment to every child who walks through our doors."

The district’s locally developed system was created by a TIA planning committee of over 30 Decatur ISD teachers, ensuring the process was grounded in the realities of classroom instruction.

Starting with the 2026-2027 school year, the district will begin its first data capture year to recognize outstanding teaching. Teachers who earn a TIA designation (Acknowledged, Recognized, Exemplary, or Master) will receive additional, monetary compensation, with designations lasting five years. Funded by the state, TIA brings entirely new revenue into the district that rewards highly-effective educators without impacting the local budget or taxpayers.
