Friday nights in Decatur are synonymous with football, community spirit, and, thanks to the Decatur ISD Education Foundation, a little extra appreciation for our incredible educators. During a recent game under the bright stadium lights, the foundation provided a moment of excitement that went far beyond the scoreboard.
In the middle of the cheers and excitement, the announcer called out the name of the Whata-swag giveaway winner: Brittney Parrish.
Brittney, a dedicated life skills teacher at McCarroll Middle School, was thrilled to receive the fantastic prize package, a small token of gratitude that includes free Whataburger for a year valued at $600. Her genuine surprise and beaming smile were infectious, serving as a reminder that the true stars of our district often work hard behind the scenes in classrooms every day.
Brittney was selected from among the 250 Decatur ISD teachers and staff who signup to our Staff Partner program. The initiative allows employees to setup an automatic payroll deduction, starting at $5 each month. These donations makes the district among the foundation's biggest supporters, with nearly half of all DISD teachers and staff choosing to participate.
