Decatur ISD is proud to welcome Robert Yeatts as the next head boys basketball coach at Decatur High School.

Prior to coming to Decatur ISD, Coach Yeatts worked as an associate men’s basketball coach at McMurry University, assistant men’s basketball coach at Texas A&M International University- Laredo and most recently varsity assistant boys basketball coach and special education teacher in Cleburne ISD.

Coach Yeatts’s goals for the DHS basketball program include “celebrating the rich history and success of the Decatur basketball program while creating champions for life.”

When asked how he feels about stepping into the Decatur basketball program, Yeatts commented, “I feel so blessed and so excited! We are going to have passion in what we do.  You will hear that a lot.  I can’t wait to build relationships and build the team.  I will be part of the community outside of basketball and am so blessed to be here.  I have been fortunate to have had a handful of coaches invest in my growth and development.  My passion is for relationships, and my desire is to use my platform of coaching to help those in my circle of influence accomplish their goals.  I look forward to the opportunity to serve Decatur.”

Coach Yeatts’s family includes his lovely wife Jessica, son Javen (11th grader), daughter Kyleigh (8th grader), daughter Arianna (4th grader) and son Jett (1 week old).

Coach Yeatts holds a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree, specialization Sports Fitness, from Hardin-Simmons University and a Texas teaching certificate, SPED EC-12.  In addition to basketball, Coach Yeatts will be working as a special education inclusion teacher at Decatur High School.
