DECATUR ISD CHORAL DEPARTMENT CONTEST RESULTS

Congratulations to all Decatur High School and McCarroll Middle School Choirs that competed at the Region 2 Concert and Sight reading Competition held last week at DHS.

All three DHS choirs, Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir, Varsity Treble Choir, and Varsity Chamber Choir ALL received First Division ratings (1’s) in both Concert and Sight reading earning all three groups Sweepstakes awards!

All three MMS (middle school) choirsTenor-Bass Choir, Junior Varsity Treble Choir and Varsity Treble Choir came away with superior (highest possible) ratings from all 6 judges in both concert and sight reading categories, earning each ensemble the coveted Sweepstakes Trophy. 

Along with McCarroll MS Choirs, the entire DISD Choirs earned 6 Sweepstakes awards all receiving straight 1’s. This the second year that all 6 Decatur ISD Choirs have achieved this feat.

" I am so proud of all the hard work they have put in all school year, and they are certainly deserving of the honor," said MMS choir director Clare Yurasek. DHS choir director Chris Yurasek shared, "Seniors who have been in choir all 4 years have been a part of choirs that have received straight 1’s earning a WHOPPING 12 Sweepstakes trophies! Decatur High School choirs stand alone in this achievement over the last 4 years for all Region 2 4A high schools."
