Dear Parents and Guardians,
The safety and security of our students are our highest priority. To help prepare students for the unlikely event of a school bus emergency, we will be conducting school bus evacuation drills over the next few weeks.
State regulations require that all students who ride a school bus participate in two evacuation drills per school year. These drills are essential for teaching students how to exit a bus quickly and safely during an emergency.
During the drill, students will learn:
The proper use and location of emergency exits (rear door, roof hatches, and windows)
How to exit the bus in an orderly and controlled manner, leaving personal belongings behind
How to move at least 100 feet away from the bus to a designated safe area
The importance of listening to and following directions from the bus driver or other school personnel
What to do if the bus driver is incapacitated
These drills will be conducted in a non-threatening, supportive environment to ensure students feel confident and prepared—not frightened.
How You Can Help
We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of bus safety. Please remind them to always listen to the bus driver and to take these safety drills seriously. Your support in reinforcing these practices at home is greatly appreciated.
