Early voting for Decatur ISD's school bond election, as well as for two seats on our school board, begins next week on April 20. We want to encourage our employees and families to vote. Voting is both a right and a responsibility, and it's our hope that you make your voice heard.
Ahead of this election, we want to share some friendly reminders and useful tips to help you engage in the civic process. See you at the polls.
Set Your Voting Plan
Before you head to the polls, check out your voter checklist to ensure that you're ready to participate:
Vote early if you can. Voting early allows for wiggle room for unexpected and personal delays that may occur and keep you from the polls on Election Day. Plus, the lines are often shorter than on Election Day. Please note that the polls will be closed on San Jacinto Day (April 21) and on the weekend (April 25-26). You can vote early:
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. April 20 (Monday)
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. April 22 - 24 (Wednesday - Friday)
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. April 27 - 28 (Monday - Tuesday)
Vote on Election Day, May 2, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. if needed. May 2 will be your final opportunity to vote in the school bond and school board election.
Know where to vote. Voting takes place at Decatur City Hall, located at 201 E Walnut St.
Know what to bring: Gather a valid photo ID (such as a Texas driver’s license, Texas Election Identification Certificate, or U.S. passport) for in-person voting. See the full list.
Determine how you want to vote. You can learn about the bond, view ballot language, and view money-saving tax exemptions on our website at DecaturISDbond.com. You can learn about the candidates running for school board on the district website.
Make a plan to vote. Do you have all the documents you need to vote? Do you want to head to the polls with a spouse, friend, child who is over age 18? Do you need transportation? Are you voting after work? Think through the details in advance and know your plan.
Encourage a friend: Reach out to a neighbor or family member to ensure they have a plan to vote.
