Gary Micinski, Decatur ISD's Interim Chief Financial Officer, and Shelly Laaser, the Interim Director of Child Nutrition, have both agreed to extend their service at the school district through the end of the 2025-26 school year.
Both Micinski and Laaser have been serving in these capacities for several months. Their willingness to extend their contracts ensures seamless service and continued excellence in our business and nutrition operations through the busy spring semester.
About Micinski (Interim CFO): Since returning to the district last April, Micinski has applied his 15 years of previous DISD experience (2000–2015) to maintain our high standards for financial transparency, accountability and stewardship. A former chemistry teacher and educator at heart, Micinski will continue to lead our business operations while providing invaluable resources and financial education and support to district leadership.
Laaser (Interim Director of Child Nutrition): A Decatur High School Class of ’93 graduate, nutrition consultant and registered dietitian, Laaser has been back leading our campus kitchen teams and administrative staff since October. Her extended tenure ensures high standards for both daily campus nutrition needs and the business side of managing school nutritional units.
“The expertise Gary and Shelly have provided over the last few months has been invaluable,” said Superintendent Taylor Williams. “Leading with a deep knowledge of our staff, students, and community, they are the right people to help us finish this school year strong. We are thrilled they have chosen to extend their time with us.”
