Decatur, Texas ⸺ Voters in the Decatur Independent School District have approved both propositions in the district’s $137 million bond election, allowing the district to move forward with facility improvements, a new middle school, and the replacement of aging infrastructure to better serve students and the community.
Proposition A passed by 73.72% and includes:
Construction of a new McCarroll Middle School to replace an aging facility
Expansion of career and technical education learning spaces, including the ag facility and Flusche building renovation
District-wide building system updates and equipment replacements
Replacement of aging buses
Technology infrastructure upgrades
Safety and security improvements across campuses
Proposition B passed by 70.06% and includes:
Replacement of student and classroom instructional technology devices
"We are incredibly grateful to our community for believing in the future of Decatur ISD and, most importantly, in the potential of our students,” said Decatur ISD Superintendent Taylor Williams. “This vote is about far more than buildings, it’s about creating opportunities, expanding pathways, and ensuring our students have learning environments that prepare them for the future they deserve. We take the trust of our community seriously and are committed to being responsible stewards as we move forward with transparency, gratitude, and excitement for what’s ahead for our Eagles."
The district also intends to convene a Community Bond Oversight Committee that will serve as a liaison between the district and community to provide accountability to verify that project are completed on schedule and on budget.
