A Mentor is Someone Who…

• Loves children and cares about helping a deserving student

• Can engage in a positive relationship with a student 

• Is focused on only ONE student

• Listens and communicates on a level that the student can understand

• Respects socio-economic and cultural diversity

• Faithfully shows up on time each week to mentor (up to 1 hour)

• Has passed screening as defined by the school 

• Is willing and able to mentor for a minimum of one school year in the program 

• Is flexible and reacts well to changing situations 

• Is a good role model and a FRIEND
