After consulting with Decatur ISD legal counsel, it has been brought to our attention that the May 15, 2023 vote to adopt the Guardian program may not be legally sufficient. Because the May 15, 2023 action on the Guardian Program was done without the agenda reflecting that action may be taken, the action is legally voidable. Accordingly, the Decatur ISD Board will conduct a board meeting on May 23rd at 5:00pm to again consider adopting the Guardian program. The Board will provide proper notice as required by our board policies and the Open Meetings Act. The Decatur ISD Board is committed to transparency and doing things correctly. In the future, we will continue to follow board policy and the Open Meetings Act. We appreciate the community support and will continue to be transparent.
