A Letter from Superintendent Williams

Cover of the strategic financial plan in English. Our responsibility as a school district is not just to educate students today, but to steward the resources entrusted to us in a way that protects opportunities for students tomorrow. Over the past year, our Board of Trustees and leadership team have worked to clearly define the principles that guide our financial decision-making. At the center of those principles is a simple belief: students come first. Every dollar we spend must ultimately support strong classroom instruction and positive student outcomes.

Today, we are releasing a Strategic Financial Plan that represents the next step in that commitment. This plan marks an intentional shift in calibrating systems and setting clear expectations within every department. We are taking a forward-focused approach that maps out priorities and financial sustainability over the next five years. The plan directly supports the goals adopted by our Board of Trustees and aligns with our district’s strategic plan, specifically Pillar 4: Strategic Resource Management. It is designed to ensure that the work happening in our classrooms, campuses, and departments is supported by a financial structure that is disciplined, transparent, and sustainable.

In the months ahead, our community will see additional plans connected to the remaining pillars of our strategic framework. Together, these plans will create a roadmap for how we move forward as a district that is focused on students, grounded in responsible stewardship, and committed to continuous improvement for the families we serve.

As we move forward together, we are extremely grateful for the community that surrounds our schools. Your support provides the strong roots that anchor us and your belief in what our students can become gives them powerful wings to achieve beyond what they can even imagine. Thank you for walking alongside us as we continue building a school system that honors our traditions while preparing our students to soar into the future.

With gratitude,

Taylor Williams

DISD Superintendent
