A Message from Superintendent Williams

One year ago, I stepped into the role of Decatur ISD superintendent  with a full heart and a deep sense of responsibility because this district is not just where I work, it’s home.

Like so many of you, I get to experience Decatur ISD not only as a leader, but as a parent. My three children walk in the same halls, learn from our amazing teachers and staff, and are growing up shaped by the same values that shaped me. That perspective has grounded me in every decision this year. It serves as a constant reminder that behind every plan, every initiative, and every conversation are children, our children, who deserve the very best.

One year ago, I stepped into the role of Decatur ISD superintendent  with a full heart and a deep sense of responsibility because this district is not just where I work, it’s home.

Coming back to the district that helped raise me has been rewarding and inspiring. There is something incredibly special about being part of a community that continues to rally around its schools and its students. I’ve seen it in our classrooms, on our fields and stages, and in the countless conversations I’ve had with families, staff, and community members over the past year.

One of the greatest joys of this year has been meeting new families and building partnerships across our community. From local businesses to parent volunteers to civic organizations, the support for our students runs deep. It is clear that Decatur is a place where people show up for one another, especially for kids.

I am also extremely grateful for how you all have welcomed me into this role. Your trust, your grace, and your willingness to engage in meaningful conversations have made this first year both rewarding and impactful. Together, we have begun important work, and I am proud of what we are building.

As I reflect on this first year, I am filled with hope for what lies ahead. We are a district with strong roots and a bold future. Our focus remains on creating opportunities for every student, supporting our educators, and continuing to build a culture where people feel valued, connected, and inspired.

The best is still in front of us.

Thank you for allowing me to serve this community. The one that shaped me, supports my family, and continues to believe in the power of public education.

With gratitude,

Taylor Williams
